El Gecko Tour is all set for the tournament held on the Malaga course, Dama de Noche, next Friday, November 18th. A unique event. Without a doubt, one of the most original tournaments to date in the Costa del Sol.
It’s a nocturnal golf championship where both professionals and amateurs alike will play together, followed by a decadent party with live music. It will be similar to the grand opening of the Gecko, although the first tournament was already held at the beginning of this week at La Cañada where Andreas Andersson took him home the win.
The idea of the tournament is to have an exciting launch to the sixth edition of the Gecko Tour, an event where professionals and amateurs are together and have fun playing golf as the principal focus. Amateurs will be able to experience what it’s like to be part of a professional tour first-hand, something that’s not easy and not always an accessible opportunity. The first game will be at half past six in the evening. In the first games, the professionals will be with the amateurs with a lower handicap.
The Dama de Noche course is artificially lighted, even to the extent that the golf balls will be equipped with a system to make them more visible at night. Specifically, a red flashing light that is activated after hitting the ball and stays lit up and blinking for five minutes after. The objective should be a straight shot on the fairway, or to recover the ball quickly in order to avoid problems…
Both the professionals and the amateurs will get together after the tournament for the party. There will be different types of food to choose from, drinks and there will also be a DJ spinning live music. The inscription for pros and amateurs with a handicap lower than a four is 75 euros, while the price for amateurs with a handicap above a four is 50. The prize pool will depend on the inscriptions and there will be gifts for amateurs.
The original Dama de Noche tournament is sponsored by investment company Black Tower and Spectrum FM (DJ’s manager). Among the professionals who have already confirmed their presence are Málaga golfer Noemí Jiménez, the Osorio brothers, British golfer Sam Connor, Norwegian golfer Anders Kristiansen and Danish golfer Alexander Garde. The tournament was initially programmed for last week, but it had to be postponed by one week.
