Jon Rahm’s stats in the PGA Tour in just the four tournaments played up until now are no small feat. The Barrika native has already placed twice among the top ten (he finished fifth in Phoenix and was tenth in Mayakoba), something made possible by few.
Comparisons are the worst and, on occasion, even impossible. Tiger Woods, for example, had his debut in a PGA Tour tournament at 16 years old, which is why making comparisons would be absurd. The California native made his first cut in a PGA Tour tournament after the eighth try, having recently turned 19 years old (Rahm just turned 21) and went to the Masters in 1995. Sergio García played in his first tournaments of the regular PGA Tour, recently having gone professional, at 19 years old, in 1999 (before he had played in a few editions of the British and the Masters that same year in 1999), and his stats were also impressive, because he ended up 3º in the Byron Nelson and 11º in the Memorial, one after the other. Shortly after, he didn’t make the cut in the British and the Buick and later made second place in the PGA…
Jordan Spieth, on his end, also started to play in tournaments in the PGA Tour in the midst of his adolescence. He played in his first tournament of the PGA Tour when he was 16 and made the cut at the Byron Nelson, and finished with an astonishing 16th place. That same year (2010) he played in the St. Jude Classic and didn’t make the cut. In 2011 he played again in the Byron Nelson and finished in 32º place. And in 2012, before turning 19, he played in fifteen PGA Tour tournaments and made three cuts, without having made any top ten.
