It has been busy days. First, we were in Arizona for a very nice event that moved me a lot, and then we had to deal with Hurricane Milton in Florida. First, the good news. Arizona State University decided to include me in their Hall of Fame. It was very cool.
For me, due to my character, I don’t really like those things. As they say around here, I’m not comfortable in the spotlight, but I have to admit it was very nice. I arrived there two days earlier with Tim and Lucas, and we had a great time. It was like a mini vacation, we spent time with the University’s golf team, and then the official events took place.
I shared the ceremony with a diver, a baseball and basketball player, a gymnastics coach, an athlete, an American football player, and another softball player. First, there was a lunch all together, and it was truly emotional.
On Saturday, they took advantage of the University’s football game to bring us onto the field, and we received a big ovation. It was very cool. We had a good time, and I’m glad I experienced it with Lucas and Tim. The kid had a great time.
On the way back, we had to prepare the house for the arrival of Hurricane Milton. It was difficult hours with a lot of uncertainty because you don’t know what might happen. There was quite a mess. Luckily, nothing happened, but we had a tornado very close to home. It caught us just as we were leaving the house, and it was impressive because it seemed like it was 50 meters away. As I said, luckily, the worst that happened was a tree fell in my garden, but it fell towards the street and caused damage to a kind of horse farm. We were lucky. We were almost two days without electricity and internet. Now everything is back to normal.
As you know, the Asian tour is being played on the LPGA Tour. I’m not in those tournaments, so I have three weeks ahead to prepare well. I haven’t touched a club in two weeks, first because of Arizona and second because of the hurricane, which has kept the courses closed. I’m not worried because there’s time.
I have two tournaments left to finish the season, in Hawaii and Tampa. I have to do very well there to save the card. I need something like a top 5 or something like that in one of them. If I don’t, I’ll go to the Final Stage of Q-School. I didn’t know if I would do it, but I’ve decided that yes, I’ll play it if I need to. I’m calm, and whatever happens, I know I’ll be fine.
Precisely because of playing the Final Stage of Q-School, I won’t be able to be at the Spanish Open this year. I’m very sorry, but it didn’t fit. I had to play in Tampa, rush to Spain to play the tournament, and then rush back to the United States for the Final Stage. I think it’s better to stay here and prepare well for the Final. I do plan to be in Spain for Christmas and Epiphany.
