Some clarifications about the fiction that placed me in LIV Golf

Hello everyone. Here we are, in Madrid, eager to face this Acciona Open of Spain. Special week. I want to take this opportunity here at home to clarify some things about LIV Golf.

I’m sure that all of you, or at least the vast majority, saw what happened on Twitter. An account related to LIV Golf announced that I was going to LIV Golf… Well, I’m going to talk about that.

I find it funny the things that are made up these days. It’s amazing. It was a total invention, I don’t know why, with what intention, maybe because I was the only name in the top 10 that can give an opinion contrary to the PGA Tour. I don’t know. I will always give my opinion on what I think and sometimes my opinion will be different from what the PGA Tour wants.

I said at the time that I was not very happy to have to play 20 tournaments in eight months being from the European Tour and, in fact, I know that changes will occur in the future in this regard, but in all the interviews I have done, I have said that my loyalty is with the PGA Tour and the European Tour, so I find it funny that people twist and make up things and even make up arguments to explain that fiction.

My loyalty is with the PGA Tour and the European Tour

I found it funny and that’s why I decided to respond to that tweet in a fun way. I’m not going to give much more rope to something that is not like that.

I have not received any offer from LIV Golf. Maybe Steve Loy, my agent, has received it, but I have not because I do not want to cloud my judgment with numbers. I play golf for the love of the sport. If I did it only for money I would not have made many of the decisions I have made in my career, the first thing is that I would not be here. I come here for the love of the sport and love of the country.

The product that LIV has does not attract me

I have explained it many times, to go to LIV Golf they would have to make changes that mean that for me it is worth it. The product that LIV has does not attract me.

there are players who may have signed their death sentence and will not play a Major in their life

Many have gone to LIV thinking that the issue of the Majors was going to be resolved but we do not know what is going to happen. They may have signed their death sentence and will not play a Major in their life. It’s hard to leave the Majors behind because that’s what we play for. If they did the same in tennis, a LIV Golf, and you couldn’t go to play at Wimbledon or Roland Garros, no tennis player would go.
