The Asian Tour School enters its decisive stage and, from this Tuesday, nine Spaniards face two of the last tests of the first stage, before the grand Final kicks off in just ten days. 72 holes in search of a spot for next week.
Eight of them —Marc Sabria, Luis González, Agustí Quinquillà, Scott Fernández, Asier Aguirre, Pep Anglés, Antonio Hortal and Mario Galiano— compete in Kanchanaburi, three hours from Bangkok, at the Grand Prix Golf Club. At this venue, 100 players are participating and, barring any last-minute changes, 18 spots will grant access to the Final.
The course, wide and spectacular, unfolds with views of the Burmese mountains and a river that crosses the property. The 5th hole is undoubtedly the most iconic. 557 yards following the natural slope of the terrain to an elevated green protected by water on three sides: even three perfect shots do not guarantee par.
At the other venue, Phoenix Gold Golf Bangkok, young Alejandro Rodríguez Andreu will be responsible for defending national honour. At 22 years old, the Valencian will fight for one of the 21 spots in a field of 118 players.
Among the nine Spaniards, the one attending with the most security in his schedule is Asier Aguirre, who after a remarkable year already has guaranteed rights for the HotelPlanner Tour 2026. For the rest, this first stage is a key opportunity to pave the way towards a competitive schedule in 2025.
The main goal is to compete next week in the Final of the School, which will be played over five rounds with a maximum of 240 players. After 36 holes, the top 140 and ties will make the cut, and after 72 holes, the top 70 and ties will play the final day. Only the top 35 at the end of the fifth day will obtain a 2026 Asian Tour card.
In that final, Carlos Pigem and Alejandro Cañizares already have secured spots, awaiting an increase in Spanish representation at the decisive event this week.
