Palmer Jackson (-21) has been crowned for the first time in his career on the HotelPlanner Tour. He did it in style, with a furious Sunday. He matched the best card of the week and with 64 strokes on the final day, he won the Raiffeisenbank Golf Challenge by six strokes ahead of Matthew Cheung and Tobias Jonsson (-15).
The American, at 24 years old, is making his debut this season on the tour. He was only playing his tenth tournament in the second continental division, and in the previous nine tournaments, his best finish had been 47th in Cape Town. He had all his chips saved for the Czech Republic.
Among the Spaniards, Sebas García (-13) and Lucas Vacarisas (-12) had serious chances of vying for victory in Brno. They started two strokes behind Jackson himself and Josh Berry. However, it was not the dream finish for either of them. It’s true that Jackson set the bar very high from the start, but they couldn’t challenge him at any point.
Sebas, with a final round of 70 strokes, finished the tournament in fifth position, his second top ten of the season, and moves into 26th place on the Road to Mallorca. Just a step away from the twenty cards that grant access to the DP World Tour. Lucas Vacarisas could only match the course in the fourth round and finished within the top ten of the tournament. A good haul for the Catalan player, who climbs twelve places on the Road to Mallorca and enters the top 45 who play the final in Alcudia. Right now, eight Spaniards would be in the Balearic event. Madness.
Among the other Spaniards in contention, the top 20 finish of Borja Virto (-5), the 21st place of Albert Boneta (-4), and the 32nd of Eduard Rousaud (-4) stand out. The weekend went worse for Santiago Tarrio (-3), Adri Arnaus (-2), David Borda (PAR), Rocco Repetto (+4), and Alejandro Aguilera
