The Iberostar Real Golf Novo Sancti Petri will host the Challenge Tour tournament that takes place from 6 to 9 June, whose venue was still to be confirmed. It will therefore be the fifth consecutive year that the Cadiz course hosts this circuit and this time it will probably do so under the name of Andalucía Challenge de Cádiz, the same as last year.
This year, therefore, the two regular calendar events of the Challenge Tour that are played in Spain will take place on Andalusian soil, as the Challenge of Spain will be held a few weeks earlier at the Real Club Sevilla Golf (from 9 to 12 May), apart from the circuit final, which is played again in Mallorca (Club de Golf Alcanada).
Up to today, five Challenge Tour tournaments have already been held in Sancti Petri. Two of them were played in consecutive weeks in 2020, the year of the pandemic, with victories for Czech Ondriej Lieser in the first and Spaniard Pep Anglés in the second. In 2021 the winner was Belgian Kristof Ulenaers, in 2022 the winner was Swede Jens Dantorp and in 2023 the winner was Englishman Sam Hutsby. As can be seen, only one victory for the Armada on the Chiclana course, although there have been plenty of good results from Spanish players. Thus, Alfredo García Heredia was second in one of the two 2020 editions, behind Anglés; Pedro Oriol was third in the other edition of the same year; Santi Tarrio was third in 2021; and Víctor Pastor signed a second place in 2022.
