The Galician Santiago Tarrío returns to the Cadiz course of Iberostar Real Novo Sancti Petri Golf Club to compete in the Challenge de Cádiz with a clear objective: to return to the DP World Tour.
And he does so in a very special place, Cadiz, where he triumphed in the Challenge de España in 2021 and changed the course of his career. That victory, along with the one achieved a few weeks earlier in the Czech Republic, and a valuable third place a few days before on this same course, were the springboard to the DP World Tour.
A door that opened for Tarrío and for three years he has played with the best golfers in the world where, although he has not lifted a trophy, he has been on the podium among the top 3 on several occasions.
The Galician has fond memories of that victory: “Returning to Cadiz motivates me. It was here where it all took off. This tournament marked a before and after for me. It was two fantastic consecutive weeks where I finished third and the following week I managed to win. Now I return with desire and great enthusiasm, I am working to be at the top again. After the whirlwind of travelling all over the world, returning to Spain is incredible. I have very good memories of this course and I hope to gather strength and have another great week in Cadiz.”
Thus, after several seasons, and with all the accumulated experience, Tarrío will head to the Iberostar Real Novo Sancti Petri Golf Club next Thursday with two very clear objectives: to win and return to the Tour. Because Cadiz not only brings back memories for Tarrío; it offers him a new opportunity to rewrite his story. And the Challenge de Cádiz is once again, for him, more than just a tournament: it is a reunion with his best version.
His experience is the best reflection of the spirit of the HotelPlanner Tour, a circuit that provides real opportunities and where one week can change everything, as other players who achieved great successes in the DP World Tour hope to do, and now, in Cadiz, will try to fight to reclaim their place in the elite of world golf.
The Challenge de Cádiz taking place this week at the Iberostar Real Club de Golf Novo Sancti Petri, is sponsored by the Real Federación Española de Golf, with the support of Hotel Planner Tour, and the Real Federación Andaluza de Golf, as well as the Consejo Superior de Deportes, the Junta de Andalucía, Iberostar Real Novo Sancti Petri Golf Club & Beachfront Resorts, Kyocera (official printing services), Allianz, Mahou San Miguel, Solán de Cabras, AON, Halcón Viajes, Volvo, Titleist, Viñas Familia Gil, Maximiliano Jabugo, Licor Mediterráneo and Viamed, under the organization of JGolf.
