Salaverri also praised the current strength of Spain’s young golfing generation, particularly following Pablo Ereño’s recent victory at the Challenge de Catalunya.
“Pablo Ereño’s win in Fontanals is proof of the incredible talent coming through,” he said. “We are seeing a generation of players who are extremely well prepared, ambitious and unafraid to compete at the highest level. For the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, it is a source of great pride to see tournaments like the Challenge de España helping to launch these careers.”
He also underlined the historical significance of an event that remains a benchmark within the European calendar.
“The Challenge de España has always been a very special tournament. It has history, prestige and an outstanding list of champions. Winning here often marks a turning point in a player’s career.”
