The Challenge Tour will lose its name from 2025 and will be renamed the HotelPlanner Tour. This is the result of the multi-year agreement (years not specified) reached by both parties. It is the same as what the European Tour did three years ago with DP World.

The new sponsor, a US-based accommodation search engine, has committed to making an investment that will allow the second division of the circuit to grow economically and from an organisational standpoint. For now, the total prize fund for this season, which will start next week in South Africa, will amount to nine million euros, a record figure for this circuit.

All Challenge Tour tournaments will have a minimum prize fund of 300,000 euros, a significant increase considering that in 2021, four years ago, the minimum fund was 190,000 euros. Additionally, HotelPlanner will make an extra investment in six tournaments on the calendar to elevate them in some way, with a larger prize fund and better points distribution. It has not yet been specified which tournaments this will occur in, but it is not ruled out that one of them could be the Challenge de España.

On the other hand, the agreement with HotelPlanner does not mean, for now, that the circuit’s Final will change venue. Jamie Hodges, general manager of the HotelPlanner Tour, has confirmed that the agreement with Mallorca remains in place, although it is yet to be determined on which course it will be held this year.

The Challenge Tour consists of 29 tournaments in 18 different countries. The top 20 in the rankings earn a card for the DP World Tour. In 2024, two graduates from the Challenge in 2023 have secured a PGA Tour card: Jesper Svensson and Matteo Manassero, highlighting the platform’s success. Additionally, HotelPlanner was once a sponsor of the now-defunct EuroPro Tour and also sponsors English golfer Dan Brown.
