Charley Hull, one of the favourites for the title at the Amundi Evian Championship, has been forced to withdraw from the tournament this Thursday after suffering from severe stomach discomfort. The English golfer, currently ranked eighth in the world and one of the most charismatic figures on the circuit, started her first round normally, but on the 4th tee, her thirteenth hole of the day, she requested medical assistance due to intense abdominal pain.
The Englishwoman was attended to by the medical team after experiencing acute pain. Although not confirmed by the player, it seems she has fallen victim to a stomach virus that has left her without the strength to continue competing.
Hull’s withdrawal is a significant loss for the tournament, as she arrived at Evian Golf Resort with legitimate aspirations of claiming her first major. Her first Major will not come this week. After thirteen holes, Hull was under par, but she could not withstand the pain and bid farewell to the tournament earlier than she would have liked.
