Charlie Woods continues to carve out his future. Step by step. Tiger’s son has achieved his first career victory on the AJGA (American Junior Golf Association) circuit by winning the prestigious Team TaylorMade Invitational, held at the Black Course at Streamsong Resort (Florida).

At just 16 years old, the young golfer delivered a great performance with a total of fifteen under par over three rounds. Charlie’s victory comes in just his fifth appearance in a tournament on this circuit. His best result until now had been a T-25 at the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley.

Woods began the final day tied for the lead at -9, but a spectacular 66 with eight birdies and two bogeys allowed him to pull away from the rest, which included four of the top five players in the AJGA rankings. His solidity was key, finishing with four consecutive pars to seal the victory with a three-shot advantage over a three-way tie for second place between Luke Colton, Willie Gordon, and Phillip Dunham.

Throughout the week, Charlie has shown great ability to make birdies, recording 25 birdies and an eagle over the 54 holes played. However, he did commit some bogeys and a triple bogey, something common with an aggressive playing style, but the result remains impressive for a 16-year-old competing against some of the best junior players in the country, several of whom are two years older and about to make the leap to university. Charlie already has his first.
