David Puig has several important commitments on the horizon. After the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow, he has enjoyed two weeks without competition, but now he faces an important sequence. The first will come next Monday, 2nd June. He will play the US Open qualifier at Wine Valley Golf Club in Walla Walla. There, he will compete for a chance to be present at the third Major of the year, a major, by the way, which he has played the last two years.
That same week of the qualifier, he will play the next tournament on the LIV Golf calendar at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Washington. In that event, he will pursue his first victory in the Saudi league, a goal he has set his sights on for this season. At the very least, his intention is to be in the fight until the end. Right after that LIV Golf event, he would have the US Open, provided he qualifies in the preliminary round. David would be delighted to accumulate weeks of competition. He has never had problems with that.
Right after the US Open, he would have a free week and the following week he will play another LIV tournament in Dallas at the Maridoe Golf Club. Another opportunity to secure a victory. The big news, however, will take place the week after the LIV Golf in Dallas. Puig has received an invitation to play a new tournament on the DP World Tour. Specifically, it is the BMW International Open in Munich. It would be his third appearance on the European circuit in 2025, after the Ras al Khaimah Championship and the tournament in Bahrain, where he finished third and fourth respectively. Puig’s results in his recent appearances on the DP World Tour have been very impressive: Open de España (3rd), Alfred Dunhill Links Championship (4th), Estrella Damm Andalucía Masters (12th), Ras al Khaimah (3rd), and Bahrain (4th). It’s impressive.
Thus, the BMW International Open would be Puig’s third tournament of the season. Once the year ends in LIV Golf, with the last tournament at the end of August, he will be able to play some more tournaments on the European Circuit. The only one he has secured by national ranking is the Open de España in October. To enter the others, he would need to receive an invitation. The next four, once the LIV season ends, are Switzerland, Ireland, Wentworth, and France, just before the Ryder Cup. It is not out of the question that the DP World Tour itself might extend an invitation to one of those events with the aim of assessing his performance if they are considering including him in the team for Bethpage.
It should be noted that the BMW International Open will also mark the official return of Sergio García to the DP World Tour, after almost three years of absence. His last tournament on the European circuit was the BMW PGA Championship in 2022.
