Just over twenty-four hours until the season kicks off on the DP World Tour. No respite or rest. The 2026 season is here, and we provide some insights to whet your appetite:
55 – This Thursday marks the start of the fifty-fifth season of the European Tour.
42 – The annual calendar currently consists of at least 42 tournaments. Three new additions compared to last year’s calendar: The Dubai Invitational returns in 2025 after a year of absence and joins the inaugural Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship and the Corales Puntacana Championship as new additions to the calendar.
25 – These tournaments are spread across twenty-five different countries. Spain will host the aforementioned Catalunya Championship and, of course, the Open de España.
143,920,000$ – This is the amount distributed throughout the year in the regular circuit tournaments.
519,254€ – separates Jon Rahm from Sergio García in the career money list history of the circuit. The man from Barrika could become the highest-earning Spaniard in the DP World Tour this season and secure a spot in the top five. Rory leads this category overwhelmingly, with almost a 30 million advantage over Lee Westwood, who is second in this category.
Cell 211 – Which Spaniard will achieve the 211th victory for the Spanish Armada in the European Tour? There is little doubt it will happen this season. The question is when and where.
8 – Rory McIlroy seeks his eighth triumph in the Race to Dubai and to match Colin Montgomerie at the top of the Order of Merit victories.
7- Seven Spaniards kick off the season at the BMW PGA Australian Championship: Rafa Cabrera Bello, Josele Ballester, David Puig, Adri Arnaus, Rocco Repetto Taylor, Quim Vidal, and Sebas García are participating at the Royal Queensland Golf Club.
6 – Who will take the rookie of the year? Currently, two Spaniards, Rocco Repetto and Quim Vidal, are the only ones from the Armada who can aspire to this honour. They aim to become the sixth Spaniard in history to achieve it: Jon Rahm, Pablo Larrazábal, Gonzalo Fernández Castaño, Sergio García, and Olazábal have done it before.
5 – Five Rolex Series events make up the calendar: Hero Dubai Desert Classic, Genesis Scottish Open, BMW PGA Championship, and the two final playoffs
3 – The season is once again divided into three phases: the five Global Swings, followed by the Back 9 and the DP World Tour Play-Offs. The winner of each of the initial tours receives a bonus of 200,000$.
2 – Two historic events change venues: the Royal Johannesburg Golf Club will be the new home of the Alfred Dunhill Championship, while the Trump International Golf Links Ireland will host the Amgen Irish Open.
1- Jorge Campillo is the only Spaniard who has managed, so far, to secure PGA Tour rights by being one of the top ten in the DP World Tour. Ángel Ayora came close just a few weeks ago, will he achieve it this year? Will anyone else join?
100 – This season is limited to one hundred players who will retain playing rights at the end of the season. The battle is expected to be fierce.
15 – Likewise, only fifteen players will ascend to the DP World Tour through the Challenge Tour instead of the twenty who did so in recent seasons.
