Eugenio López Chacarra has expressed both pride and gratitude just minutes after winning the Hero Indian Open, his first victory on the DP World Tour. The Madrid golfer acknowledged being more than satisfied with his performance under maximum pressure over the four days and, at the same time, did not hesitate to admit that God lent him a hand in a couple of moments where luck was on his side.
Grateful for the invitation to the Hero Indian Open… “I am very grateful for this opportunity. You have probably changed my life from today, so thank you for that. It has been a tough day, we knew it was going to be a long day with a lot of pressure and obviously, I didn’t have the start I really wanted.”
The champion’s luck… “I think I have done a great job all week maintaining patience and I know that God has been helping me today. I had a couple of good bounces, including that chip on the 14th. It’s the luck you need to win, but I am very proud. This course is very difficult and the wind has been very changeable. My goal was to give myself a chance coming into the final stretch and that’s what I have done. I feel like I have played well all week and things have gone my way today.”

This victory is a vindication for himself… “I know that when I play my best golf, I am one of the best players in the world, I have proven it a million times. It’s just incredible, we are going to need time to assimilate it, but I am very proud and happy.”
