As Ten Golf exclusively advanced, the DP World Tour tournament held in South Korea changes its date. It was expected that the competition would take place from April 18 to 21. However, for weeks the players themselves knew that this was not going to be the case.
Finally, after announcing it this morning, the DP World Tour itself, the tournament will be played from October 24 to 27. Pay attention to the change because it is located as the last tournament of the so-called “Back 9” tour and, therefore, just before the final playoffs that are played in the United Arab Emirates. South Korea will be the final judgment that determines the final cut with the players who maintain the full playing rights on the DP World Tour and the positions among the top 70 in the ranking that gives the right to the playoff. It is celebrated the week after the Estrella Damm Andalucia Masters that is held for the second consecutive year in Sotogrande and will be the only one of the nine that travels outside of Europe. Pablo Larrazábal already knows therefore when he can try to repeat the triumph achieved last year at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club.
The tournament therefore becomes a fundamental pillar in the circuit calendar and does so after reaching a three-year strategic agreement with Genesis and merging with the KPGA of Korea. The tournament is named this same year the Genesis Championship. The tournament’s prize pool increases to four million dollars and the field will be composed of 90 players from the DP World Tour and 30 players from the KPGA TOUR. Although logically it is something closed beforehand, it is the first official announcement made by the European Circuit after the arrival of Guy Kinnings at the head of the tour.
