Marco Penge, the newly crowned winner of the Open de España presented by Madrid in 2025, returns to the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, from 8 to 11 October, with the intention of adding his second consecutive title and increasing his standing as an important player within the exciting history of this tournament, one of the oldest on the DP World Tour.
The English golfer produced a fascinating performance last year that led him to lift the champion’s trophy by a singular route, barely travelled in the many years of this Open de España’s existence: victory with a final score of 1 over par.
That restraint contrasted with the insatiable productivity displayed during the first 54 holes, 16 under par across three rounds that became the true foundation of his triumph, joining his name to the ranks of a tournament that prides itself on hosting much of the very best in the history of the sport.
Born in the English town of Horsham in 1998, to an Italian father, Marco Penge tried his luck in football -of which he is a passionate fan- before devoting himself fully to golf, where he has accumulated five victories.
The first two, forged on the HotelPlanner Tour during his developmental stage, came in 2023 at the Open de Portugal and at the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final held in Majorca, foreshadowing his strong penchant for winning on the Iberian Peninsula.
Two seasons later his true breakthrough as a golfer occurred, with three well-spread victories throughout 2025 on the DP World Tour that began with the Hainan Classic at the end of April, continued with the Danish Golf Championship in mid-August and culminated, in mid-October, with the Open de España presented by Madrid.
That last triumph brought with it a novel 3×1 that filled the winner with satisfaction. Indeed, beyond the glory of lifting a centenary trophy, Marco Penge earned the right to participate in the Masters de Augusta and in the Open Británico in 2026.
Established on the PGA Tour this year after his great 2025 season, special mention must be made of his fourth place at the Valspar Championship in mid-March, foreshadowing one ambition: to add a second consecutive victory at the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid and consolidate England, with thirteen wins, as the second country with the most titles in the Open de España.
