El Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters, which will be held at the Real Club de Golf Sotogrande from October 17 to 20, officially confirmed this Wednesday the participation of Jon Rahm in the tournament. As expected, and as the golfer from Barrika had announced on several occasions, he will be part of the event in Andalucía. He returns to Sotogrande, where he hasn’t played since he was an amateur. It will be Jon Rahm’s fourth participation in the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters, a competition in which he was already close to victory in 2019, when he finished sharing second place behind South African Christiaan Bezuidenhout. To date, the Basque golfer has achieved 10 victories in 75 appearances on the DP World Tour and holds the second-best historical win percentage on the tour, only behind Tiger Woods.
Rahm knows what it means to face the demanding test of the Real Club de Golf Sotogrande. In 2012, as an amateur, he showcased his talent by finishing second in the European Nations Championship – Copa Sotogrande. This year Rahm has represented Spain in the Paris Olympic Games and finished fifth.
The player from Vizcaya will arrive at the San Roque course to tackle his second tournament of the DP World Tour season on Spanish soil after delivering a brilliant performance at the Acciona Open de España, where he fought to achieve his fourth title in the tournament and finished in second place.
A possible victory at the Real Club de Golf Sotogrande would add Jon Rahm to an illustrious list of champions who have won at the Cadiz course, such as Severiano Ballesteros, Rory McIlroy, José María Olazábal, Padraig Harrington, Roberto de Vicenzo, Shane Lowry, Francesco Molinari, or Sergio García.
