The cut should be considered a small triumph, as it allows you to stay in the fight for everything. It would be rare for the lead to go beyond -6, so the margin for manoeuvre with 36 holes ahead is significant. Rafa delivered a card of 72 strokes, the same as Ereño, while Sebas was one of the few who managed to beat the course. The key for the three Spaniards was avoiding mistakes. Between them, they made five bogeys. Minimising errors. Special mention to Pablo, who makes the cut in his first appearance in the DP World Tour. Not many can boast of that.
Not so lucky were Alfredo García Heredia (+6), Iván Cantero (+9), and Joel Moscatel (+18). They are out of the cut no matter what happens this afternoon. It’s a very demanding course, and with the wind blowing, it requires very orderly play. That’s it. If the aim is slightly off, high scores come easily.
Beyond the Spaniards, the clubhouse leader is Daan Huizing (-3), with a great card of 69 strokes. There are nine other players under par in the overall with the round finished, including Alex Fitzpatrick (-2) and Marco Penge (-1), who delivered one of the two best rounds of the morning (68 strokes), tied with Joakim Lagergren (+1).
