The DP World Tour has released the list of players already confirmed to play in the Estrella Damm Andalucía Masters in two weeks at the Real Club de Golf de Sotogrande. Just two days after the official announcement of Jon Rahm‘s presence in the tournament, good news continues to roll in for the second DP World Tour event to be held in Spain in less than a month and the penultimate regular event of the circuit. For now, Tyrrell Hatton, Jon’s teammate in LIV, and Rasmus Hojgaard will be there, two high-profile signings who could well be in next year’s Ryder Cup at Bethpage.
Both Hatton and Rahm will fulfil their fourth mandatory tournament in Sotogrande to maintain their DP World Tour membership and keep the door open for selection for next year’s Ryder Cup.
The list of players is very attractive. In fact, none of those fighting for one of the ten PGA Tour cards to be distributed through the Race to Dubai are missing. As of today, before the conclusion of the Alfred Dunhill Links and the Open de France, the top 20 in this virtual ranking for the American card will be present in Sotogrande. Namely, from 1 to 20: Thriston Lawrence, the aforementioned Rasmus Hojgaard, Matteo Manassero, Jesper Svensson, Niklas Norgaard, Rikuya Hoshino, Sebastian Soderberg, Romain Langasque, Tom McKibbin, Guido Migliozzi, Frederic Lacroix, Ángel Hidalgo, Laurie Canter, Jordan Smith, Nacho Elvira, Joe Dean, Ewen Ferguson, Adrián Otaegui, Ugo Coussaud and Darius Van Driel. Among them, Norgaard will try to redeem himself from last year, when he finished in the last places with two rounds of 75 and 83 strokes. Thus, the Estrella Damm Andalucía Masters will witness one of the last great battles for a spot in next season’s PGA Tour.
Additionally, two important names are also registered in the tournament: Matt Wallace, who continues his quest for a Ryder Cup spot, and John Catlin, the golfer who replaced Jon Rahm in the LIV Golf team final and who will be part of the Saudi circuit next year. Incidentally, Catlin enters the tournament as a former winner under 50 years old.
Similarly, the presence of David Puig and Eugenio López Chacarra is expected, who would occupy the two spots allocated to the national ranking, although they are not yet officially assigned in the tournament’s Entry List.
