Sebastián García (-5) has made a strong statement today in the second round of the Bahrain Championship, handing in a card of 68 strokes, four less, under really complicated playing conditions due to the strong wind. To begin with, at the time of signing his card Sebas had already gained almost sixty places in the ranking and certainly has positioned himself as a candidate for victory with such a comeback. In very tricky conditions due to the wind, it must be insisted on this, the Spanish player has been able to add up to seven birdies, although he has also dropped three bogeys. And he has done it to make birdies, of course, but also to save some more delicate situation. It is also worth highlighting his game from the tee, fundamental in such a busy day. He has taken eight streets, a figure that is not bad in windy conditions, but it is that, in addition, when he failed, he did not get into big problems, always with the ball in play. Then, with the irons or the wedges in his hands, he has read the situation and the action of the wind with finesse to leave himself multiple and excellent birdie options. Just look at the results of the other players from the Spanish Armada in the morning shift to better understand the value of Sebas’ round: Pablo Larrazábal (PAR) has gone to 73 strokes, Nacho Elvira (+1) and Jorge Campillo (+9) to 75, and Ángel Hidalgo (+3) to 77.
