The South African Casandra Alexander (-17), aged 25, has claimed victory at the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open, a Ladies European Tour event held from Friday to Sunday at the Royal Beroun Golf Club in Beroun, near Prague. A record round of 62 strokes, ten under par, allowed her to secure her first win on the tour and prevented the Spaniard Luna Sobrón (-15), tied for second with the Englishwoman Esme Hamilton (-15), from celebrating her 100th tournament on the tour with a trophy.
Alexander started the final round far from the theoretical battle for victory. She wasn’t even among the top 20 after 36 holes in this three-day event. But she simply delivered a masterclass with a stellar final round, setting the best score ever on the course with six birdies and two eagles, without a single mistake. A tremendous 62 that neither the Majorcan nor the other two Spaniards with chances, Nuria Iturrioz (-14) and Harang Lee (-10), could match.

The South African had previously won six events on the Sunshine Ladies Tour, interestingly, in two of them with Spanish players as runners-up (Mireia Prat at the Jabra Ladies Classic in 2023 and Harang Lee at the ABSA Ladies Invitational in 2024). Today, she prevented Luna, despite her third consecutive round of 67 strokes, five under par, from even having the chance to contest the title in a playoff. There was nothing to be done when facing an opponent who was simply unstoppable.
As an example, her chip from off the green on the 18th hole with which she closed her round, holing out for eagle and leaving a score in the Clubhouse that no one could reach. A true spectacle that left Luna and Nuria, especially, and Harang, who couldn’t finish the tournament at the level she had shown on Friday and Saturday, wanting more. María Hernández (-4), with a par round on Sunday, and Marta Sanz (-2), with 74 strokes, completed the Spanish representation in the Czech Republic where Marta Martín, due to injury, couldn’t defend her title.
