From 27 to 30 November, the Real Guadalhorce Club de Golf (Málaga) will once again host the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España presented by Oysho, the season finale of the Ladies European Tour. The support of Andalucía as the main sponsor reinforces a sustained strategic line: positioning the region as a leading sports tourism destination, boosting off-peak season tourism, and linking the brand to an event that attracts international attention every year.

The 2024 edition resulted in solid visibility and audience figures: 12 hours of live coverage, international distribution in 87 countries, and a potential reach of 143.875 million households, with a global audience estimate exceeding 240 million. On-site, the tournament attracted 10,750 attendees, accredited 86 media outlets, and mobilised 125 volunteers, generating over 350 jobs associated with the competition week and a direct economic impact quantified at €623,700. These indicators consolidate the sponsorship return and the destination’s appeal in key markets.

This performance aligns with the reality of golf in Andalucía: a strategic sector contributing 5.456 billion euros annually and 51,000 jobs (including direct, indirect, and induced), with around 700,000 golf tourists per year and 1.757 billion in direct spending; approximately 85% of that spending occurs off-course (accommodation, dining, transportation). The October–November window coincides with the high golf season in the region, multiplying the Open’s effect on occupancy and ancillary spending.

In sporting terms, 2024 offered a narrative of maximum impact for the destination: Carlota Ciganda claimed her second Open de España at Guadalhorce after a thrilling final day, and amateur Andrea Revuelta was honoured with the Celia Barquín Award as the best amateur. A national triumph and a brilliant performance by Spanish talent that amplify the association between Andalucía and the best European women’s golf.

As a recent precedent of a major women’s event on the Costa del Sol, the Solheim Cup 2023 demonstrated the territory’s drawing power and projection: public estimates placed its global economic impact in the range of 400–500 million euros; during the week, 65,010 spectators were recorded on-site and 465 journalists accredited. This “demonstration effect” reinforces the context in which the Open grows and Andalucía’s commitment to women’s golf.

With Andalucía as the main sponsor alongside Turismo Costa del Sol, Málaga and the Real Guadalhorce Club de Golf will once again project a tournament to the world that combines elite sport, measurable returns, and destination promotion. The Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España presented by Oysho 2025 will once again be an international showcase of Andalucía’s leadership in the sports tourism industry.
