Anna Huang has made her mark in history today. She did it with elbows and knocking half the glassware to the floor. She won the La Sella Open with a final score of 20 under par and a seven-shot lead over the runner-up. She achieved this with a final round of 69 and, yes, let’s remember, at just 16 years and 10 months old.
If anyone thought the fourth and final round of the magnificent Ladies European Tour tournament might be too long for her, they were absolutely mistaken. Quite the opposite. She dominated the situation with an iron hand. Practically, it can be said that she did not suffer. A victory that leaves everyone speechless. Including her.
As for the triumph, the truth is that Sunday did not have much to offer. Huang’s victory was never in danger, as she completed her first nine holes with a two-under-par score and no bogeys. The Canadian golfer of Asian descent writes her name in gold letters in history. She is the sixth youngest to win on the LPGA Tour or the Ladies European Tour since its inception. Ahead of her are only Atthaya Thitikul, Lydia Ko, Lexi Thompson, Amy Yang, and Chiara Noja. Except for Noja, the other four have been World Number Ones and/or have won at least one Major. Watch out.

Huang surprised everyone with her boldness by stating this very week that “pressure is a privilege,” echoing the famous phrase made popular by Billie Jean King, one of the greatest tennis players of all time. It was not a joke, much less an exaggeration from the young American.
Nastasia Nadaud (-13) finished in second place. The sensational French golfer, leading in the number of birdies on the LET and also very young, only 20 years old, will have to wait to claim her first victory. Australian Maddison Hinson-Tolchard signed a round of -3 (69 strokes) to achieve her best result on the LET, third place, ahead of Singaporean Shannon Tan, who closed the gap with Mimi Rhodes in the Order of Merit despite an irregular final round. There are now five tournaments remaining in the season. Irish Lauren Walsh confirmed her second place at the Swiss Open with a top-five finish at La Sella Golf, Denia.
Nuria Iturrioz was the best-ranked Spanish player, while her compatriot and amateur player, Carolina López-Chacarra, made a great impression in her LET debut, finishing tied for 26th place. At the end, Iturrioz summed up the week: “I felt comfortable. Today I putted much better. The approach also worked well for me, and I regained confidence with the driver, hitting quite a few fairways again. Now it’s time to rest, I’m going home, and I’m happy. Obviously, the rough affected me a lot, and I would have liked to do better, but the level was very interesting.”
