The wave doesn’t stop. Seven days after opening the big door at La Sella, Anna Huang (-16) (16 years old) repeated a stellar performance in Deauville with a final round of 65 strokes (-6) to conquer the Lacoste Ladies Open de France and seal two consecutive wins on the Ladies European Tour. She is the first Canadian with two titles on the circuit and the third player to achieve back-to-back victories in 2025, after Mimi Rhodes and Sara Kouskova. She also enters the fight for the ranking.
Huang started in the lead and, true to her script of these two weeks, struck early: birdies on 1 and 2, the only blemish on 4, resumed the march with a birdie on 5 and a definitive acceleration on the back nine. The German Helen Briem responded with great strength (66, -5), reaching a tie for the lead, and Casandra Alexander (66, -5) joined the battle.
However, the rookie closed with birdies on 16 and 18 to sign -16 total and leave Briem and Alexander two strokes behind. “I’m in shock… winning two weeks in a row is crazy,” confessed the Canadian, still digesting the back-to-back. Huang is playing with the naturalness of someone who doesn’t yet know the word fear. If the schedule doesn’t overwhelm her, the ‘ice Canadian’ is going to be a protagonist every week. Certainly, she can no longer be overlooked.
The best Spaniard, Luna Sobrón (8th)
Luna Sobrón (-9) completed another very solid week to finish eighth on her own, one stroke behind the group that closed the top-5 (-10), and ahead of the pack that completed the top-10 at -8. A high-level result in a part of the season where the Balearic is finding consistency from tee to green and posting low rounds on the weekend. Additionally, Marta Martín (-4) finished in 26th place with three very solid rounds. Blanca Fernández and María Hernández missed the cut.
Brianna Navarrosa (-11) – 63 (-8) recorded the lowest round of the week, with an eagle on hole 2 and three birdies in the last four holes.
The keys on Sunday were Huang’s explosive start and composure when Briem tied: the putter held up under pressure and the irons were surgical once again. The Deauville course rewards bravery: those who attacked flags at the end (16 and 18) reaped rewards.
Order of Merit: Huang is now top-10
With the victory, Huang jumps to 9th place in the Race to Costa del Sol. Mimi Rhodes maintains the lead after her T14 in France, with Shannon Tan second and Casandra Alexander third ahead of Kouskova. Helen Briem is now 5th.
What’s next
The LET takes a one-week break before heading to Gurugram for the Hero Women’s Indian Open (9-12 October, DLF Golf & Country Club). A demanding venue, undulating greens: a perfect laboratory to measure how long Huang’s rocket lasts and how the Europeans arrive at the final stretch.
