Perrine Delacour (-14) has been crowned champion of the Investec South African Women’s Open held this week at Erinvale Country and Golf Estate, marking the Frenchwoman’s second victory on the Ladies European Tour.

The player born in Laon, France, started this Sunday with a two-shot lead and managed her advantage perfectly. A victory is never easy, but the Frenchwoman’s good level with a round of two under par and her closest competitors, Kiera Floyd (-10) and Chiara Tamburlini (-9), only managing to match the course, made things easier. Ultimately, Delacour won by two strokes over fellow South African Casey Alexandra (-12), who delivered a card of 66 strokes but came from six strokes behind and could not unsettle Perrine.

The best Spanish players in South Africa were María Hernández, Blanca Fernández García-Poggio, and Teresa Toscano (-5). All three players finished tied in the top 20 of the tournament. María Hernández staged a great comeback from behind this Sunday and delivered the best round of the day in South Africa. With a score of 67 strokes, she presented the second-best card of the day.

Blanca continues to demonstrate her solid game week after week. She has finished among the top 35 in five of the six events played so far. It’s only her first season as a professional. It sounds quick.

Meanwhile, Teresa Toscano recovered brilliantly from a tough start to the tournament on Thursday with a card of 74 strokes. From there, 69, 71, and 69 to complete a good week. It’s a shame that the first day prevented her from competing for more in South Africa.

Among the rest of the Armada members, Luna Sobrón (-4) finished one stroke behind the aforementioned trio to end in 31st place thanks to her best performance of the week with a final round also of 69 strokes. Marta Martín (-1) and Nuria Iturrioz (PAR) did not have the tournament finish they dreamed of, with cards of 73 and 72 strokes respectively.
