Carlota Ciganda (-10) and Nuria Iturrioz (-9) will compete this Sunday for victory in the Aramco Houston Championship, a Ladies European Tour event taking place in Texas. The Navarre golfer, making a spectacular comeback, and the Balearic golfer, maintaining her consistency after her notable start to the tournament yesterday, have finished the second round in first and second place on the leaderboard, respectively, thus becoming the main favourites for the win with just 18 holes to go.
Carlota’s 64 this Saturday is, so far, the best result of the week in the tournament. No less than nine birdies were signed by the Pamplona golfer, with a bogey, to climb to the top of the leaderboard. Only Nuria, improving by one stroke on the 68-stroke round she had yesterday, has been able to keep up with her pace, both surpassing Mimi Rodhes (-8), who finished as the solo leader after the first day. Although there are more than a dozen players within just four strokes on a course where, as has been demonstrated, very few can be made, so the tournament remains very open.

Luna Sobrón (-6), who started the tournament very high with 68 strokes, struggled to get going this afternoon and maintain her birdie pace, but with a final push, she gave herself one last chance to fight for the win. Meanwhile, María Hernández (-2) managed to make the cut but will need to improve her game on Sunday to try to achieve a good final result in the individual standings. Marta Sanz (+1), with four bogeys in her last nine holes, Blanca Fernández (+1), and Teresa Toscano (+12) missed the cut and have already finished their participation in this Aramco in Houston.
In the team event, the competition concluded after the first 36 holes, so there is already a winning team. The victory went to the quartet led by Sara Kouskova, accompanied by Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen, April Angurasaranee, and Ana Belac. With a total of 32 strokes under par, they won by one stroke over the team of Mimi Rhodes. The team of Carlota Ciganda, very low after the first 18 holes, finished with a total of 27 under par, far from the fight for victory.
