There were five, they could have been eight, and finally, they remained four. A good harvest for Spanish golf in the final of the Ladies European Tour School, which concluded this Saturday in Morocco, at the Al Maaden and Royal Golf courses in Marrakech. No other country managed to place as many players in the positions of honour. England, the United States, and France came closest with two representatives. Absolute success.

Julia López (-11), Carolina López Chacarra (-11), Carla Tejedo (-11), and Marta Sanz (-10) are the Spanish players who have secured full playing rights with a fabulous management of the competition and tension. Julia finished with two bogeys on the last three par 5s when the situation was already resolved; Carolina did something similar, two bogeys on the last two holes when the card was already in her pocket; Tejedo, on the other hand, signed three birdies between holes 12 and 18 to climb up and get into the privileged positions, and Marta Sanz, after making two bogeys on holes 10 and 13, held on like a trooper with five consecutive pars to just make it in. The four Spanish players within one stroke and on the edge. A good stress session well overcome.

They were very close to being five Spanish players with a card. Harang Lee (-9) was just at the doorstep, one stroke away, after delivering a spectacular card on the last day with 68 strokes, five under par, with five birdies and no bogeys. The Cantabrian has once again shown that she has enough golf to be with the best. She is capable of signing very low rounds, but she needs to give it continuity and have more consistency. When she achieves it, she should be one more in the Ladies European Tour. Perhaps she will break that ceiling with a full campaign in the LET Access, although she will also have some opportunities to play in the first division.

Amaia Latorre (-7) and María Parra (-7) were not far from the card objective. They brushed it with their fingertips, but they lacked a final push in the form of birdies. Even so, a great performance by both. They will also focus their efforts on the LET Access next year to return in style. Through the second division, seven cards are distributed, which is not bad at all.

Constanza Guerrero (-6), who went to the hotel yesterday in card positions, did not have a good day. A card of 74 strokes left her out. The key was in the sequence of three bogeys between holes 10 and 13. They were a very difficult burden to lift.

Teresa Toscano, Ana Pina, Marina Escobar, María Herráez, and Clara Moyano finished with no chance.

Beyond the Spanish players, the big surprise was that Ingrid Lindblad, former World Amateur Number One, was left out of the top 20 and, therefore, out of the cards. The winner of this final was the Polish player Dorota Zalewska with -19.
