Things are going very well for the Ladies European Tour Qualifying School once the second round of the Grand Final—being played in Marrakech, Morocco—has been completed. The top 20 players and ties will earn their cards after 72 holes are finished. And at the halfway point of the tournament, four Spaniards are perfectly positioned inside those card-earning places.

Leading the Spanish charge at the moment is Julia López (-8), who sits second after posting rounds of 68 and 69 in the opening rotation across Al Maaden Golf and Royal Golf. The Benahavís player is just one shot off the lead held by Thailand’s Napat Lertsadwattana (-9).

Carolina López Chacarra (-6), Marta Sanz (-6) and Harang Lee (-6) are also in excellent shape. All three currently share 10th place. Carolina has signed for rounds of 71 and 68, with today’s key stretch coming from holes 1 through 4, where she made an eagle and two birdies. Marta put together five straight birdies from holes 9 to 13 on her way to a superb 67. Harang has returned rounds of 68 and 71.

Just outside the top 20—the week’s main objective—is Castellón’s Carla Tejedo (-4). She is only one shot back after turning in a 69, highlighted by a blistering start that featured as many as six birdies from holes 11 through 18. She began her round on the 10th.

Further back, but still with plenty of room to finish among the top 20, are Amaia Latorre (-2), Constanza Guerrero (-2), Marina Escobar (-2), María Parra (-1) and Teresa Toscano (-1). Remember, there is no cut this week after the Grand Final was reduced from five to four rounds due to bad weather. Ana Pina (E) hasn’t said her last word either, although she will need to respond in tomorrow’s third round, while María Herráez (+4) and Clara Moyano (+8) already have a much tougher task.
