This Friday has seen the start of the NSW Open, a tournament of the Ladies European Tour that takes place in an absolute gem, the Magenta Shores Golf Club in New South Wales, in Australia, a handful of kilometres north of Sydney. A fabulous links.

Great performance by Marta Martín (-5) and Luna Sobrón (-5). Following the path marked in Arizona by Azahara Muñoz and Carlota Ciganda, they have both placed themselves in the second position, two strokes behind Justice Bosio, an Australian amateur golfer who has surprised on the first day with a scorecard of 65 strokes.

Marta and Luna have had two very similar rounds, with six birdies and a solitary bogey. Martín has displayed masterful golf from tee to green, while Sobrón has been able to take full advantage of her birdie opportunities and has managed to hand in a great scorecard of 67 strokes using only one of the four par 5s. The Balearic player, with the aim point system on the greens, is improving a lot in this aspect.

Both have presented their serious candidacy for victory in a tournament that, remember, is played over three rounds. There is little margin and, therefore, starting at the top gives many options.

Also completing a notable first round was the Navarrese María Hernández (-3). She made six birdies and three bogeys, one of them with a painful three-putt on a par 5. In addition, Teresa Toscano (-1) also played under par and is within the provisional cut, while behind they will have to react Carmen Alonso (+1) and Teresa Díez Moliner (+4), very weighed down on the greens with three three-putts.

Beyond the Spanish players, in the top 10 of the tournament we have the German Laura Fuenfstueck (-5), Mariajo Uribe (-5), Bronte Law (-4) and Shannon Tan (-4) as the most outstanding players.
