Hannah Green (-10) lives up to any prediction that might exist this week around the Australian WPGA Championship and has already taken the lead after the second round. The Australian golfer carded a very good 67 at the Sanctuary Cove Golf & Country Club and seized the lead by two strokes over the English Meghan MacLaren (-8).
It would not be the first time a clear favourite fails to win a golf tournament, but Green certainly looks set for her second consecutive victory and her third so far in 2026. She is, without doubt, one of the big names at the start of the year. Remember that on Sunday she lifted the trophy at the Australian Open.
The best Spaniard is Harang Lee (-6). The Cantabrian, who is enjoying the best moment of her career, carded a 69 on Friday and moved into fourth place, tied with three other players including the South African Casandra Alexander (-6), another who has started 2026 very well.
Harang matched her lowest-ever LET scorecard yesterday and with today’s round she has completed her second-best opening 36 holes, only bettered by the two rounds of 67 and 68 she recorded in the Czech Republic last year. Today she made four birdies and two bogeys. The target for Saturday must be to get back under 70. It would be the first time she has done so in three consecutive rounds on the European circuit. Lee played her first LET event in 2019 and already has 84 appearances with two top-10s.
Also, the Spaniards Amaia Latorre (-2), who shot 71 today, and Blanca Fernández (-1), who managed to recover from a painful double bogey at 18 (par-5) to finish with a 72, are still within range of doing something very interesting over the weekend.
Similarly, Luna Sobrón (PAR) managed to make the cut despite a 73 (two over par). The worst news came for María Parra (+3) and Marta Martín (+3), who missed playing the weekend by a single shot. María’s finish was particularly cruel. She made two bogeys in her last two holes and three in the last four to miss by one. It’s the consequence of pressure and of not having played four days on the LET for a long time. She hadn’t played a tour event since June last year, where she did make the cut. Marta Sanz (+7) also missed out.
