Manon de Roey (-14) has conquered the Investec South Africa Open of the Ladies European Tour that has been played on the Erinvale Country Club course in Cape Town. The Belgian golfer has handed in four cards of 69, 67, 66 and 72 strokes and has imposed herself with authority, with a four-stroke lead over Gabriella Cowley and Momoka Kobori. In fourth place, as the best South African, finished Nicole Garcia (-8).
This is the second victory for De Roey, a 32-year-old golfer who opened her record in 2022 by winning the Aramco Team Series in Bangkok. She has won convincingly, playing the final round with a lot of head where the wind conditions have been very complicated. The victory allows her to make a big leap in the LET order of merit. She moves into second position, only behind the English Bronte Law.
It has not been the best week for Spanish golf on the Ladies European Tour. Of the nine who started the tournament only Mireia Prat managed to make the cut. The Catalan golfer, who was playing her second tournament of the season on the European circuit, has finished in 46th place with four rounds of 70, 75, 73 and 75 strokes.
