The golfer from Singapore Shannon Tan (-9) has claimed her second title on the Ladies European Tour (LET) this Sunday after winning by one stroke at the Amundi German Masters.
At the North Course of Green Eagle, the 21-year-old player signed a modest but effective card of 76 strokes (+3) in the final round, for a total of nine under par and one stroke less than the younger Helen Briem (-8)
Tan started with a three-stroke lead over Hannah Screen thanks to a great moving day and extended her lead to five strokes after stringing together eight consecutive pars, while the English player fell behind with four bogeys and a quadruple bogey.
However, a challenging stretch under windy conditions put her victory at risk. Two consecutive bogeys on holes 9 and 10 reduced her lead to just two strokes, just as the local player Helen Briem closed the gap with a birdie on the 11th.
She responded with a birdie on the 11th to regain some advantage, but another bogey on the 13th allowed both Briem and the New Zealander Amelia Garvey to get back within two strokes. A new bogey on the 17th reduced her lead to the bare minimum, but she held her nerve to secure her second professional victory.
This new triumph reinforces the great form of the world number 117, who also has four consecutive top ten finishes in the LET. She was second at the Jabra Ladies Open at the end of May, just two strokes behind the Czech Sara Kouskova, and then finished tied sixth at the Tenerife Women’s Open. Two weeks ago, she was part of the group that finished tenth at the Hulencourt Women’s Open. This is her first victory of the 2025 season and the second since turning professional last year. Her first win came on her LET debut at the Magical Kenya Ladies Open. In her first season on the tour, she finished the LET ranking in a more than brilliant sixth position in 2024.
In the national section, Luna Sobrón (-2) and Carla Bernat (-2) were solidly heading towards respective top ten finishes at the Amundi German Masters, but both had an unfortunate finish that prevented them from achieving the goal they had in mind this Sunday. The lead was far away, but the top ten was just one stroke away.
The Balearic player reached the tee of the 17th hole tied for sixth place thanks to three birdies and two bogeys that helped her climb seven places. However, a double bogey on the 17th and a bogey on the 18th buried her chances of sealing her third consecutive top ten and the seventh of the season. Two holes do not overshadow the good performance of Luna, who remains in the fourteenth place of the Order of Merit.
Tied with Luna finished the young amateur Carla Bernat. The player from Castellón reached the 18th hole of Green Eagle in eighth place thanks to a round that was at par with the course. The claws of the German monster had one last score to settle, and the ANWA champion closed her first LET participation outside Spain with a painful double bogey that left her tied with Luna in the 14th position of the tournament. Despite the tough ending, Carla has shown that she can compete face to face with the best players on the Ladies European Tour. Carla’s next appearance will be in the penultimate Major of the year, in two weeks at the Amundi Evian Championship.
