The Final of the School of the Ladies European Tour, which will take place from December 16 to 20 at the Al Maaden Golf and the Royal Golf of Marrakech will feature the presence of up to 13 Spanish players in search of the cards. To the five golfers who already had their place assured in this decisive event, eight more have joined this afternoon through the pre-series of qualification held in three different courses of Morocco.
The first event of the School this year were the pre-series of qualification of Asia, disputed from November 8 to 10 at the Classic Golf and Country Club of India. And for this week three days of competition were reserved, from December 10 to 12, in which 220 players from 40 different nationalities fought in three different courses (always in the same one that corresponded to them, without rotation) for a place in the final.
To this triple date had access players of the Ladies European Tour who had finished outside the first 135 positions of the Race to Costa del Sol, players of the LETAS outside the first 21 of the Order of Merit, unclassified professionals or classified outside the top 200 of the Rolex Ranking and amateurs classified outside the top 25 of the world amateur ranking.
Divided into three groups, each one of them playing a single course, and in a 54-hole event without cut, the 26 best and tied of the Noria Golf Club and the 27 best and tied of the Golf Club Rotana and the Samanah Golf by Nicklaus automatically accessed the Final of the Lalla Aicha School next week, also in the African country. This is how eight of the thirteen Spanish players who will be in that event in which they compete for the cards have gained access.
Harang Lee (-7), tied 7th, Clara Moyano (-2) and Elena Hualde (-2), tied in 18th position, as well as Fátima Fernández Cano (PAR) and Marta Pérez (PAR), at the limit in the 27th place of the tournament, have achieved their qualification for the Final of the School playing at the Golf Club Rotana. On the other hand, Natasha Fear (-4) and Teresa Díaz Moliner (-4), tied in 7th place, along with Teresa Toscano (-3), in 12th place, have earned their place playing at the Noria Golf Club. Unfortunately, the only Spanish player who played at the Samanah, María Herráez (+5), missed out by one stroke.
These eight players from the Armada will join in Marrakech the other five who already had their place assured in the Final of the School: Luna Sobrón, Paz Marfá, Elia Folch, Marta Martín and Amaia Latorre. This final tournament will be played on two courses. The finalists will be divided into two groups and will play the two courses alternately during the first four days of competition. After a cut, a fifth round will be played at the Al Maaden Golf Marrakech where the final classification will be established.
The top 20 players will get the card, with the one known as Category 12 (in case of a tie in the 20th position it will be resolved by lowest final round, best result in the last 54 holes, cards from hole 18 from the last round backwards, aggregate results from hole 18 in the third and fourth rounds…). From position 21st to 50th the players will get the Category 16 of the LET. And from 51st onwards, the Category 19 to be eligible in the tournaments of the Ladies European Tour.
