Sebastián Muñoz (-6) is the first leader of the LIV Golf Singapore, a tournament that is being held at the Serapong course of the Sentosa Golf Club. The Colombian golfer has taken advantage of the conditions of a course that suits him like a glove, ideal for very confident and reliable players from tee to green. Muñoz has made 65 strokes and leads in a really tight classification.

We can almost talk about congestion. There are more than twenty players separated by only three strokes. In fact, in the maximum handkerchief of a single stroke we have seven players. There is a jam in the second place. With -5 pile up Thomas Pieters, Brooks Koepka, Cameron Tringale, Abraham Ancer, Martin Kaymer and Kevin Na. It is striking because many of them had not been seen in the top positions for a long time, such as Pieters, Tringale, Kaymer and Na. It is true that, of all of them, the German has been pointing to a recovery for some time now. It seems that little by little he is getting closer to his best version, although you always have to be cautious in these matters, as he has been far from his best form for a long time.

As for the Spaniards, the best news is Eugenio López Chacarra (-4). The golfer from Madrid is the best placed of ours, in eighth place, and above all he is showing signs of improvement. It seems that he is coming out of the hole in which he has been since much of last season and the beginning of 2024. Already in Australia last week he finished with two good rounds and this staging seems like a confirmation. However, there are still 36 holes ahead to try to surpass his best result of the year, a fifteenth in Hong Kong.

Sergio García (-2) and Jon Rahm (-2) have fallen a bit short in this first round. They are in 22nd place, with many players ahead, although the margin for manoeuvre is absolute, as there are four strokes difference with the head. In both cases, there has been quite a bit of irregularity. Sergio has signed four birdies and two bogeys, while Jon has made three birdies and one bogey. The Barrika player is lacking more finesse and even a sharper fang, even if these two parameters are difficult to measure. For example, it is not usual to see him three-putt on a par 5 to make bogey or to miss the birdie on another par with the ball on the edge of the green about eight-nine metres from the hole.

Finally, David Puig (-1) has been something similar. Four birdies and three bogeys. Too many mistakes for a course that allows birdies, but it is not a paradise either.

One of the curiosities of this first day is the round of two under par by Anthony Kim, his second best result in LIV after the last round in Hong Kong. As for the team classification, the Fireballs of Sergio García, who have not yet completed a great week in 2024, and the Smash of Koepka share the first place.
