This Tuesday, “The Showdown” is being played in Las Vegas, featuring Rory McIlroy, the world number one, Scottie Scheffler, against two of the big stars of LIV Golf such as Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka.
Ahead of the match, during a public practice session, McIlroy, with a live microphone, told the fans: “I’m looking forward to facing Bryson, I want to try to get revenge for what he did to me at the US Open,” referring to the fateful outcome of what happened this June at Pinehurst that ended with the American’s final victory.
Bryson DeChambeau’s humorous response was undoubtedly one of the funniest moments of the day: “Well, to be honest, Rory, you did it to yourself,” reminding and poking fun at the two missed putts in the final holes of that decisive US Open day where Rory had victory in his grasp. The Northern Irishman accepted the joke with good humour, acknowledging that he didn’t know where to hide at that moment and that it was best to head home.
