It’s official. We mentioned it a few days ago in the Bola Provisional, but it has now been confirmed by LIV Golf. Laurie Canter returns to the Saudi circuit. The Englishman, who had secured one of the ten coveted PGA Tour cards from the DP World Tour thanks to his seventh place in the Race to Dubai, will not be playing in the United States after all. In a twist that had been rumoured in recent days, Canter has signed with Majesticks GC for the 2026 LIV Golf season, where he will take the place vacated by Henrik Stenson.
The move, in addition to confirming Canter’s return to LIV after his stint between 2022 and 2024, triggers a domino effect in the DP World Tour rankings. With the Englishman’s withdrawal, Daniel Brown, who had just missed out in the battle for PGA Tour cards, finally secures his ticket to play the US circuit in 2026. Since Canter’s departure to LIV is before January 1st, it grants Brown his spot. For example, in the cases of Meronk and McKibbin, who followed a similar path, the card did not move down the rankings as they did so after the year had already started.
It doesn’t change anything for him, but another indirect affected is Ángel Ayora, who remains just short of the goal: barely two hundred points separated him from the PGA Tour card. The Malaga native has had a sensational season, but the final twist did not fall in his favour by a whisker. His path to the North American circuit begins this week in South Africa.
The Majesticks have officially announced the addition of the Englishman, who arrives with two recent major victories on the DP World Tour —European Open 2024 and Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship 2025— and established as the number 60 in the world rankings. His arrival in the team coincides with Stenson’s departure due to poor results and the franchise’s new momentum amid internal restructuring.
“Joining the Majesticks is an incredible opportunity…”, highlighted Canter in the team’s statement. For the franchise, according to their Team Principals James Dunkley and Oliver Banks, he is a “modern, analytical and extremely competitive” player, perfect for the direction they want to take in 2026. Canter will debut with his new squad at LIV Golf Riyadh, from February 4th to 7th.
