According to information revealed by the television network WBTV, Harold Varner III, a player for LIV Golf, was arrested last Thursday for driving “under the influence of a impairing substance” in Charlotte, North Carolina. The American registered a blood alcohol concentration of 0.15 during a breathalyzer test, double the legal limit.

The arrest took place around 7.30 pm and Varner III was taken to the Mecklenburg county jail. The judge set bail at 500 dollars and according to court records, the golfer paid it and was released. Harold is expected to appear in court on January 19 for this offence.

Last season, the then player for the RangeGoats GC (he was transferred to Dustin Johnson’s 4Aces GC for the upcoming season) won the LIV event in Washington, in May. In 13 tournaments, Varner III finished in the top 10 five times and ended the season in seventh place in the individual ranking of the Saudi tour.
