LIV confirms Valderrama… and the change of dates

As TenGolf reported just a month ago, Valderrama will once again host the LIV Golf Andalucía in 2026, marking the fourth consecutive edition of the Saudi circuit at the Sotogrande course.

Despite rumours of a venue change to Madrid and Bilbao, it has been decided to continue for another year at the historic 1997 Ryder Cup venue. LIV Golf confirmed this on Thursday through an official statement, highlighting an important novelty also announced on this page: the tournament is moving from its usual July date and will take place from 5th to 7th June.

This change of month is no coincidence. For some time, within the LIV environment, there has been debate about the convenience of moving the event to a more favourable time for the course and the fans. In June, Valderrama is usually in even better condition and the temperatures are somewhat milder, two key factors that affect both the sporting spectacle and the audience experience.

Additionally, by freeing up the July week, LIV opens the door to a possible more refined preparation for the Open Championship for its players. Who knows if that date will be reserved in the future for a stop at a British links?

The spectacle will return to Valderrama, albeit on a different date, with the same ambition to establish itself as one of the key events on the LIV calendar and international golf in Spain.
