LIV Golf has announced this Thursday the appointment of new members to its board of directors

The aim, as the circuit explains in a press release provided to the media, is “to advance the recruitment of long-term financial partners and complete the transition from its initial launch phase to a diversified investment model with multiple partners”

This move comes shortly after claims that the PIF (the Saudi investment fund that founded the league) will withdraw its funding from next season. This seems evident after the CEO of LIV Golf confirmed that the tour is seeking new sources of finance to be able to continue

This strategic evolution announced today by the circuit includes the creation of an independent board led by Gene Davis and Jon Zinman, two experts with extensive experience in managing complex processes and generating value for global organisations. Both will work closely with the executive management to guide the league in this new phase

Davis and Zinman will focus their efforts on institutionalising the structure of LIV Golf and on assessing the various strategic opportunities that have arisen with the growth of the competition. “LIV Golf has built something truly distinctive: a global league with passionate fans, top-tier talent and proven commercial momentum,” Davis, chairman of the independent directors committee, said. “There is a clear opportunity to formalise the structure, attract long-term capital and position the business to continue growing while continuing to promote golf globally”

The league remains committed to the team golf model, a format it considers key to its value proposition. According to the organisation itself, the 2026 season has confirmed the strong demand for the product, with record audience figures and a 100% increase in revenues compared with the previous year

On the back of this momentum, LIV Golf has already begun talks with potential investors and global partners who share its vision of a more inclusive and modern sport. As this process unfolds, the league emphasises that its commitment to providing elite golf to fans, players and sponsors remains unchanged

Regarding the backgrounds of the new appointees, Gene Davis is chairman and chief executive officer of PIRINATE Consulting Group, a firm specialising in corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions and strategic advisory. With decades of experience, he has held leadership positions at companies such as Delta Airlines, AeroMexico and Atlas Air, among others

For his part, Jon Zinman is founder of JZ Advisors, an independent strategic advisory firm focused on business transformation processes. With nearly 20 years’ experience, he has worked in investment analysis, restructurings and corporate governance, and currently sits on several boards across different industries

With these moves, LIV Golf seeks to consolidate its growth and take a further step in its ambition to become a solid, sustainable and attractive global platform for long-term investors… while also protecting itself from the consequences that the withdrawal of PIF financing will have, if it ultimately becomes official.
