Everything an amateur can do at the LIV Golf of Valderrama

Much is said about LIV Golf and its striking slogan ‘Golf A Tope’, but what does this bold saying actually mean?

Well, we already have an answer: it means the opportunity to see Jon Rahm, Sergio García and Bryson DeChambeau in a team format. It means a concert given by the prince of reggaeton Abraham Mateo. It means a fan zone with penalty shootouts, F1 simulators and a tattoo shop. It even means going for tapas at hole 17.

All these attractions are already prepared in Valderrama and will be part of LIV Golf Andalucía next week (from July 12 to 14). And although the menu may be very different from what they are used to, its audacity cannot be denied.

Back again, more and better

LIV Golf has already stepped on the sacred ground of Valderrama. Its first tournament in Andalusia was held just over a year ago, topped off with a victory by American Talor Gooch after a magnificent performance by the young Spanish golf talent, David Puig.

In addition to the innovative aspects of its format – three days instead of four, shotgun starts, the new dimension created by teams – that tournament made an excellent impression among spectators for its novel formulas: the Birdie Shack, a vibrant terrace with live DJ, the concert of Spanish singer Beret and the Fan Village, a mini-adventure park where various sports could be practiced.

LIV Golf is firmly determined to create a more open and inclusive game, a new way of understanding golf and this year it returns to Valderrama with even more fun for fans.

For those who have seen all the miracles that have occurred in Valderrama – the comebacks, the albatrosses, Sergio García’s cascade of victories – perhaps the most interesting novelty will be the possibility of contemplating the famous hole 17 from the box, with Spanish food and drinks. This is the Gallery Club, one of the most popular VIP sites of LIV Golf, which will be located next week at the most iconic hole of the Andalusian course.

Beyond the extraordinary VIP experience, you can have fun in the Fan Village (the fan’s village) which is freely accessible with any ticket. The following novelties have been confirmed for this year:

– Chipping challenge. For those who want to demonstrate the precision of their chip.

– Racing simulator. You can take laps in a virtual car, with a ranking to encourage a sense of competition.

– Multi-sport wall. A fusion of classic sports and digital technology, the wall offers challenges from various sports and is designed for all abilities.

– Tattoo shop. This shop offers fans the opportunity to get tattooed in the colours of their favourite team. But parents don’t have to worry: the tattoos are airbrushed and not permanent.

The icing on the cake will be a live concert on Saturday, immediately after the golf. This year the artist will be Abraham Mateo, known worldwide for the success of songs like Loco Enamorado, Háblame Bajito and Quiero Decirte. The singer was born in Cadiz and his performance will mark a ‘homecoming’ for him and his thousands of followers.

All this spiced up with the possibility of seeing García leading a team of three Spaniards and Rahm in search of his first individual victory in this historic year. The phenomenon of LIV Golf has a taste that impacts, without a doubt, and it may not be to the liking of some of the fans who cling to the oldest traditions of golf, such as baggy trousers or signs that require silence.

But for the new generation of golf fans, those who are attracted to sports with euphoria and electricity, LIV Golf Andalucía 2024 promises to be a luxury festival. And even if you’ve never seen this great sport before, there will be something for you.
