LIV Golf announced this Tuesday the renewal of Sam Horsfield for another year with the Majesticks team. A King’s gift… for Horsfield. The Englishman thus completes the only all-English team in the Saudi league, alongside captains Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood and the brand new signing Laurie Canter.

It’s surprising how long it took to announce the renewal, considering the league ended last August. It’s obvious that one of the parties didn’t make it easy to continue the relationship. Horsfield finished in 2025 in the 39th position of the individual LIV ranking, meaning he could continue in the competition as long as one of the teams bet on his services.

Horsfield’s performance hasn’t been anything extraordinary in LIV Golf since he joined back in 2022. Beyond the injury problems that forced him to miss several weeks of competition, his best result this past season was a sixth place in Saudi Arabia and a twelfth in Australia, in the first two weeks of the year. From there, he never scored points again, and yet, it was enough not to be relegated. Despite this, he was the best in the team, ahead of Poulter, Westwood, and the relegated Stenson. Well…

The Majesticks thus become the fifth LIV Golf team made up entirely of golfers from the same country. They join the Spaniards of Sergio García, the Australians of Cameron Smith, the South Africans of Louis Oosthuizen, and the Americans of Phil Mickleson. It is a trend that LIV Golf is pursuing with the aim of identifying each squad with a different nation. Then, there are the Latin team of Niemann or the Asian team of Kevin Na.
