Sergio García has said that he has “nothing to hide” after declaring before the judge of Castellón who is instructing the case of an alleged corporate crime for the purchase of some land on the golf course of Coma, and he is convinced that the case will be archived.

The player from Borriol (Castellón) went alone to the City of Justice of Castellón at 9.45 am, fifteen minutes before the time he was summoned to declare as investigated.

In this case, the former president of the Provincial Council and the PP of Castellón Carlos Fabra, who already declared before the Court of Instruction number 4 on October 19, and Sergio García’s father, Victoriano García, who also gave a statement that same day, are also being investigated.

On his way out, Sergio García has told the media that the declaration has gone “perfectly”. “We have declared and we have said everything we had to say to the judge, who will then make the decisions,” the golfer pointed out.

He also indicated that he is “calm” because he has “nothing to hide” and he is convinced that this case will be archived.

The court is trying to clarify whether an alleged corporate crime was committed in the purchase of some land on the golf course of Coma, managed by Golf del Mediterráneo, in the town of Borriol (Castellón).

The athlete declared this Thursday after having excused his presence in court on October 19 for having an international golf competition in the United States, as his father explained.

The initial complaint was filed in 2016 by two partners and joint liquidators of the company Golf del Mediterráneo SA against the company Golf Borriol SL, chaired by Carlos Fabra, and its board of directors for the sale of both the land and the transfer of the economic activity.

They reported alleged irregularities committed by nine other partners of the company, including Carlos Fabra, and then preliminary investigation proceedings were opened for an alleged corporate crime.

In 2017, the court agreed to the provisional archiving of this investigation and the Provincial Court confirmed this archiving. However, later, when new evidence (a police report) was incorporated, the Prosecutor’s Office requested the reopening of the case and this request was attended to, so it is now continuing with the testimonial statements of the defendants.
