The transfer market in LIV Golf is stirring again with less than two months to go before the start of the new season. After securing the signings of Victor Perez to the Cleeks GC and the return of Laurie Canter to Majesticks GC, filling the spots of the relegated Frederik Kjettrup and Henrik Stenson, the Saudi circuit is now preparing new significant moves.
According to Todays Golfer, the Saudi tour is close to finalising a deal with Si Woo Kim, a four-time winner on the PGA Tour, including the iconic 2017 edition of THE PLAYERS. The 30-year-old South Korean has also competed in three Presidents Cup and made headlines during the 2023 Masters for wearing a shirt with the PGA Tour logo while playing alongside Phil Mickelson, one of the major figures of LIV.
The signing of Kim would fill one of the vacant spots following this year’s relegations to the Drop Zone. One of the players who lost their category was Yubin Jang, a player from Iron Heads GC of Kevin Na, who finished 52nd out of 54 in the overall standings.
Rumours with Sungjae Im
Meanwhile, another South Korean name has been linked to a possible move: Sungjae Im, a two-time winner on the PGA Tour and teammate of Kim in the Presidents Cup. However, sources close to the player have stated that there is “zero truth” to the reports suggesting his imminent arrival to the Saudi circuit.
Speculations intensified last month when both Kim and Im applied for membership of the DP World Tour for the 2026 season, a move that fuelled theories about strategic changes for both players.
Name changes on the horizon
In addition to the signings, LIV Golf could soon face identity changes in some teams. According to Flushing It Golf, recent trademark registrations suggest that several franchises will be renamed, including the Iron Heads GC, which would be renamed Becko East GC.
LIV Golf has not yet issued any official statement regarding the ongoing operations, although the circuit’s market continues to advance rapidly in a winter that promises more high-profile moves.
