It can be said louder, but not clearer. Sungjae Im has put an end to the rumours placing him in LIV Golf in 2026 in a sharp and decisive manner. His two words were: “fake news”, while quoting the tweet where it was explained that he was in negotiations to join the Saudi league.

It all started with information that had Si Woo Kim as the main protagonist. It was explained that the Korean, winner of THE PLAYERS, was in advanced talks with LIV Golf to join next year. In fact, even the conditions imposed by the Asian golfer were pointed out: to be the captain of a team and to be able to form his own quartet.

It is said that the negotiations are advanced, but by no means closed. There is still a lot to be done and we will see if it finally happens. It should be remembered that Kim wore a polo with the PGA Tour logos on the day he shared a round at the Masters in Augusta with Phil Mickelson. Similarly, no top-level Korean golfer has yet landed in the PIF league, which is why there is so much interest.

In any case, in the reports commenting on these talks between Si Woo Kim and LIV Golf, it was hinted that one of his requests was to land alongside another top-level golfer from South Korea. It was here that the name Sungjae Im appeared for the first time. Precisely, before this information, amplified by other media, Sungjae has been forced to step forward to put an end to the rumours.

As if his testimony wasn’t enough, his caddie, Willy Wilcox, joined the chain of denial in a humorous way. “I announce that Sungaje has signed with NASA and next year he will play tournaments on Mars and Neptune,” he joked. Not many could imagine Sungaje playing only 14 tournaments plus the Majors next year, a player who rarely plays fewer than 30 each season.

Thus, it is clear that Sungjae Im will not go to LIV Golf and it remains to be seen if Si Woo Kim will. His arrival would be to Kevin Na‘s team, which would be downgraded if Kim is granted his prerogative to be captain.
