Martin Kaymer has finalised his LIV Golf team for 2025 with the addition of Frederik Kjettrup, a 24-year-old Danish golfer who turned professional last June after finishing the NCAA with Florida State University. Kjettrup will fill the gap in the Cleeks left by Ángel Ayora after his refusal to join the Saudi league. Thus, the German golfer’s team will consist of Kaymer himself, Richard Bland, Adrian Meronk, and Kjettrup.
Kjettrup has had an outstanding amateur career, with a victory in the European Team Championship at Camiral Golf in 2021, three wins with Florida State in the NCAA, and several appearances in the Palmer Cup. He reached 11th in the world ranking. However, his most notable records have come shortly after turning professional. Due to his strong performances in the United States as a university player, he earned the rights to play the PGA Tour Americas through the PGA Tour University. Since June, he has played eleven tournaments in this circuit, the third division of the American, winning three and achieving two more top 10s. With these results, he had already secured his presence in the Korn Ferry Tour in 2025.
However, Kjettrup is taking a turn in his career. He is leaving the PGA Tour path and fully joining LIV Golf after the call from Martin Kaymer. He is the first Danish player to sign with the Saudi league. Interestingly, Kjettrup played in early 2024 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, where he missed the cut, replacing Caleb Surratt at the last minute, a golfer who declined the invitation offered to him to join Jon Rahm‘s Legion XIII.
For now, the only two signings for LIV Golf in 2025 are the Korean Yubin Jang, who has joined Kevin Na‘s Iron Heads, and Kjettrup. For now, the feeling that the era of big-money signings by the Saudi league is over continues to be confirmed, although there are still weeks ahead until the new season starts, and other moves could occur.
