The Legión XIII (-20) of Jon Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton, Tom McKibbin y Caleb Surratt has achieved the team title for the 2025 season of LIV Golf. In the final held from Friday to Sunday at The Cardinal at St. Johns in Michigan, after overcoming the quarter-finals against Cleeks GC on Friday and the semi-finals against HyFlyers GC yesterday, they defeated Crushers GC (-20) of Bryson DeChambeau on the second playoff hole after both teams finished tied in strokes in the aggregate results of all their players in stroke play format.
The conclusion of the Saudi tour, with this team event, was a head-to-head between the teams captained by the Californian and the one from Barrika after Stinger GC (-12) quickly fell out of contention. Louis Oosthuizen, Dean Burmester, Branden Grace, and Charl Schwartzel, who had reached the final against all odds leaving Torque GC behind, were luxury spectators, always far from the lead. They were able to witness up close an exciting finish among their fellow players that went to a playoff after a great final comeback by Jon‘s team.
Both Crushers GC and Legión XIII started very strong on Sunday, sidelining the third team competing for the title. However, between holes 6 and 12, Rahm‘s team slowed their initial momentum, allowing DeChambeau‘s team to open a small lead in the standings. And when everything seemed decided, a bogey by Charles Howell III, a mistake from the tee by Paul Casey, and a spectacular finish by both Jon and Tyrrell Hatton, with two birdies each to finish, forced the sudden death.

The surge by Legión XIII was so good with sensational results from Tom McKibbin (65 strokes) and Caleb Surratt (64) that, if it hadn’t been for a stratospheric birdie putt by Bryson on the 17th to keep his team in the game, they would have claimed the title much earlier. But the battle moved to a four-man playoff, with the top two players from each squad on the field. A playoff in which Casey and Jon missed their first putts and in which DeChambeau and Hatton succeeded, restarting the head-to-head that was played on the last hole of the course, a relatively easy par four.
All four found the fairway, Casey with a bit of luck thanks to a good bounce, but their approach shots decided the final. Rahm and Hatton‘s shots set up good birdie opportunities, especially the Englishman’s, who left the ball just over a metre from the flag; Casey‘s shot fell short and DeChambeau‘s ended up in the rough. Neither of the Crushers players made birdie, Jon sealed the victory by sinking his putt and Hatton didn’t miss either.
Thus, the Spaniard does the double. After winning the individual title seven days ago also coming from behind against Joaquín Niemann, tonight he achieves the team victory with his Legión XIII and takes home another good haul. In this case, 14 million dollars, of which 40% is for the players (10% for each, or in other words, a cheque of 1.4 million for each player) and the rest is for the team. Bryson‘s Crushers GC, Casey, Howell III, and Lahiri take eight million, under the same conditions, and the Stinger, six million. Sergio García‘s Fireballs GC finished eighth and collect 2.5 million.
