Before competing in the LIV Golf in the UK last weekend, Anthony Kim was interviewed on the ‘Fairway to heaven‘ podcast, where he revealed for the first time since his return to competition after years completely disappeared from the public scene that in addition to the Saudi tour, he managed two other options at the time he decided to return to play.

“I had three options on the table: one was the PGA Tour, another to play here, in LIV, and the third… not to play golf at all. And the truth is that all three had the same chances,” he acknowledged. “After some conversations with the people from LIV and the PGA Tour, I was leaning more towards not playing again, but my wife told me: ‘who is going to have that opportunity again?'”, he revealed.

“I had financial benefits from both sides, it’s no secret. I had different sponsorship options whether I played on the PGA Tour or in LIV Golf, and I still have them. I have turned down more proposals than I have accepted in terms of sponsorships because I did not agree that they fit in what I am trying to do with my life”, Kim confessed on the podcast.

“Were there offers for me to be sponsored and put logos and life-changing money? Yes, but I have not accepted them because if I support something, I want the people who follow me to say: ‘Anthony really believes in this'”, he detailed. “The PGA Tour was amazing for several reasons in my life. I managed to retire my mother, which was my main goal playing golf”, he explained.

Now, his goals revolve around his family, specifically his daughter Bella. “My dream is to see my daughter run across that green and hug her, and I will do everything possible to achieve it. If that means having to spend 18 hours on the field every day, I will do it. At least I will give myself the opportunity, because on the other side people doubt, laugh, criticize… I love it because it motivates me and gives me more energy to do what I do. When I think I can’t win, I won’t play. I’m here to be competitive”, he concluded.

Anthony Kim‘s best result this season in LIV Golf was a tied 46th place in the LIV in Nashville.
