LIV Golf returns to Valderrama for the second consecutive year. The best possible stage to enjoy a different way of understanding golf, with a more global experience and the excitement of experiencing two tournaments in one, two classifications in one. The fan enjoys the individual competition, in the traditional style, and by teams, the revolutionary, the innovative way with which LIV Golf has managed to turn around the way of experiencing professional golf.
In a way, it reminds of the Formula One. On the one hand, there is the individual competition that crowns the best driver, the fastest, and on the other hand the classification of the teams, the teams. You can be a fan of a driver and a team. In LIV it’s the same. You have the possibility to wear a player’s shirt, vibrating with his birdies and supporting him to death so that he wins the individual title and, for the same price, follow a team wishing for their victory. Leaving your throat for the golf team.
The individual competition works as always. There are three rounds of golf and the one who makes the fewest strokes wins. There’s no more. No cut. Every day you can see all the players, without the risk of being left without your favourite golfer after the second day. At the same time, the team competition is developed. There are a total of thirteen and they are made up of four players each. The first two days of competition the three best results of the team are chosen to obtain the score, while on the last day the four results count. It’s a novelty this year and has managed to increase the excitement even more. Anything can happen on the last day. The turns in the results can be spectacular. Everyone adds up. Every stroke counts.
At this moment, before the Houston tournament, the leader of the individual classification is the Chilean Joaquín Niemann, captain of the Torque, precisely the team that won last year in Valderrama. Meanwhile, in the team classification the Crushers of Bryson DeChambeau, Paul Casey, Charles Howell III and Anirban Lahiri are leading. In second place, hot on their heels, is the Legion XIII of Jon Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton, Caleb Surratt and Kieran Vincent. For their part, the Fireballs, the most Spanish team of LIV Golf, with Sergio García as captain and David Puig and Eugenio López Chacarra accompanying the Mexican Abraham Ancer, occupy the eighth place.
In 2024 the Legion XIII team of Rahm has already won twice, while the best result of the Fireballs of Sergio García was a second place in the tournament in Singapore and precisely last week in Houston.
