The LPGA Tour has become a gallery of usual suspects. Following Nelly Korda’s five consecutive victories, Hannah Green has now triumphed at the JM Eagle LA Championship. This is the Australian’s second consecutive win in this tournament, her second this year in 2024, and the fifth of her career.

Green won on the Wilshire Country Club course, in the heart of Hollywood, with an excellent final round of 66 strokes for a total of -12. It was a victory with sufficiency, distancing three strokes from Maja Stark (-9) and six from Hae Ran Ryu (-6). This is the first time she has won with more than a one-stroke lead. Therefore, it is the first time she has been able to savour the conquest on the way to the 18th green as she deserves.

The key moment of Hannah’s victory was the 12th hole. Up to that point, she had made one birdie and one bogey and added seven consecutive pars, letting slip some good birdie options with the putt. Somehow, she seemed somewhat stagnant and the classification was very tight. However, just at that moment, she holed a chip from outside the green and resolved the tournament in just over an hour, with a partial of five under until the 16th hole. The End.

Maja Stark achieves her second consecutive second place, after the one conquered at the Chevron, and shows the world that she has already recovered her best form. Meanwhile, Hae Ran Ryu reminds that the rookie of the year award achieved in 2023 was by no means a coincidence. The big blow of the week was for Grace Kim, leader after the second round with a four-stroke lead. She finished in 25th place after chaining two cards of 76 and 77 strokes.

For her part, Carlota Ciganda (+3), the only Spaniard who made the cut, has finished in 57th place with a final round of 73 strokes. She suffered a lot on the greens on Friday and over the weekend she did not manage to bring out her best golf from tee to green, especially in the second strokes.

Finally, good and bad news for Green. The tournament will be played again in 2025, but will change venue due to major renovation works to be carried out at the Wilshire Country Club. “I’m annoyed that they’re going to do it without consulting me,” joked the Australian after the victory.
